Introducing the Explorer App
Explorer is a mobile app that creates a unique biking experience for tourists in NYC. A collaboration between Citi Bike and Lonely Planet, the app connects people to interesting places and chronicles their travel stories.
For newcomers to NYC, it can be stressful and hectic to navigate and get around the city. Explorer is a mobile app that rethinks this experience, striving to make the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.
The app is designed for people who want to sightsee via bicycle. It offers useful bike route maps, a seamless in-app payment system for the Citi Bike rental service, and a beautiful timeline that tracks places visited during each bike ride.
Hundreds of Lonely Planet recommendations make it easy to discover off-the-beaten-path spots to check out. People can plot places of interest on a map and see a custom bike route to follow during their journey. They can also see a timeline of where they went and the photos then took along the way. Timelines are beautiful records of memories that can stay private or be shared with family and friends.
